Coaching at NYSL

Coaching at NYSL is not about developing a winning team. It is about developing a winning child. We do not keep score and we do not stress WIN. We do stress team work and individual development. We also stress sportsmanship and most of all FUN!

Volunteer coaches are the heart and soul of our league. It is the coach that has the most contact with the players, and it is the coach that will help the children form their opinions of soccer and sports in general. It is an awesome responsibility, but incredibly rewarding.

Make it Fun. Enjoy the Ride.

Your success as a coach in this league is not measured by number of goals, but measured by how much fun your players have, and if they want to come back and play the next season. The links on the left contain information of interest to our coaches. The Coach's Resources link contains documents that have helped other coaches. If you would like to contribute your thoughts, or if you find some good resources you would like to share, please let us know by sending a note to our coaching director

Thanks again for volunteering your time and effort for our kids.

Coaches, Parents and Board Members

With the start of each season, NYSL offers you the chance to attend a coaches clinic that is sponsored by the Indiana Youth Soccer Association. This training includes drills & games that you can use during practices and is hands on! You will also be earning your Youth Module certification upon the completion of the clinic. This certification will satisfy the coaching minimums, set by IYSA, for the majority of our recreational league program. Please bring your soccer ball, water, appropriate foot wear and a fun attitude!

Check the Season Schedule page for clinic dates and locations.
